Your checklist

A practical checklist from GeoffTrader to use alongside Geoff's video.

  1. Start with the whole car

Park somewhere with enough room to step back and use daylight where possible. Keep the car in focus and include it all in the frame. A clean lens helps more than a dramatic filter.

  2. Cover the outside

Take a clear front three-quarter view for the main photo, then the rear, both sides and any useful close-ups. Show the wheels and tyres as well as the bodywork.

  3. Show the cabin and boot

Include the dashboard, front and rear seats, and boot. Move loose belongings out of the way so buyers can see the condition of the interior.

  4. Photograph the useful details

Include the mileage display and any features you mention in the advert. Clear photographs should support the description, rather than make buyers guess what you mean.

  5. Be clear about faults

Show dents, scratches, worn seats and other known damage. Include a wider view as well as a close-up so buyers can tell where it is.

  6. Check each photo before uploading

Remove blurry or repeated shots. Check for addresses, phone numbers, faces and private paperwork in the background. Never upload V5C/logbook pages, document reference numbers or finance documents.
