Alfa Romeo GTV / Spider
1999 Alfa Romeo GTV V6 - MOT 09/2027 - New Clutch - Clarkson Feature Car
Alfa Romeo GTV V6 for sale. MOT until 09/2027. This exact car was used by Jeremy Clarkson in his 1999 DVD Head to Head — please see pics for a photo of him with the car, and a copy of the DVD is included with the sale. Prior to my ownership The previous owner had the car for around ten years and clearly looked after it mechanically. During his ownership it had the cambelt and head gaskets replaced, along with the usual maintenance. Timing belt replaced in 2016 @ 86,333 miles Timing belt replaced in 2022 @ 110,614 miles Currently showing just over 121,000 miles In 2016 it also had both heads fully rebuilt. All work including the clutch I’ve just had done was carried out at Alfa speciast garages, receipts present. During my ownership I’ve had a new clutch fitted, along with new rear wheel bearings and a few other bits and pieces. I’ve spent around £1,600 on it getting these jobs done. The car itself It drives really well and has no mechanical issues that I’m aware of. It always starts, and the engine, gearbox, clutch, brakes and suspension are all working as they should. Being a 1999 car it is less restricted than the later cars but benefits from having the six speed gearbox. It’s a really fun car to drive and one of those cars that makes you want to take it out just for the sake of it. You can see why Clarkson liked it so much, even all these years later. Comes with the book pack, a wad of paperwork, and two keys including the service key. The underside is really very good for one of these. It has been stripped back and undersealed at some point, which has clearly done it a lot of good. It’s well above average underneath, and this was also confirmed by the Alfa specialist who fitted the clutch. As with any car of this age, there are a few things that need attention, so I’d rather be completely upfront about everything I know of: The paint on the passenger side of the bonnet is cracking. There also appears to have been a previous repair to what was probably a small bump at some point. See photos. Some rust has started at the bottom of the passenger-side wing/sill meeting point. See photos. The rear spoiler has faded. See photos. There is some rust starting on both top corners of the rear windscreen surround. See photos. The electric windows work fine but are slow. The heating works really well, but the air con doesn’t. I’ve had the system looked over and there are no obvious leaks or obvious failure points. I haven’t tried re-gassing it. There are some scuffs to the alloys. At some point someone has jacked the car up on the driver’s side sill, which has bent the metal slightly. It’s still totally solid, but some surface rust has started, hence the MOT advisory. If you’re looking for a mint, show-stopping example of a GTV V6, then this probably isn’t the car for you. If, however, you want a very usable GTV V6 that you can jump in and drive to France without worrying about every little mark, and you can live with some cosmetic imperfections, then I think it’s definitely worth considering. Prices for these seem to be creeping up, and I think you’d struggle to find a genuinely usable GTV V6 for much less than £5,000 these days. Please bear that in mind when making offers. I’ve also literally just spent £1,600 on the car getting the clutch, wheel bearings and other bits done. Thanks Adam

Got a car to sell?
I need three things: a photo, a price, and a location. That's it.* Nothing over £10,000.
*Well, that was the original plan. But Laura insisted we add a few more details to keep things above board. So now there's make, model, year, mileage… you get the idea.
Simple really. Someone has a car to sell. Someone else wants to buy a car. GeoffTrader puts the two in the same room and lets them get on with it.
We want to create a website where real people can sell real cars to other real people. No messing, no jumping through hoops... just cars.
